The most powerful, affordable, and easy-to-maintain workhorse in its class. This aircraft, in a new design,
includes everything you expect from Robinson helicopters. The R88 will be type-certified for optional
single-pilot IFR operations, opening new possibilities for our customers.
The internal useful load is expected to exceed 3,000 pounds, while providing more than 3.5 hours of flight time
and a range of over 350 nautical miles. It will have the capacity for missions requiring high payload, allowing
transport of up to two pilots and eight passengers, with a total passenger load of 1,800 pounds with full fuel.
Size and Capacity:
The R88 is the largest and most powerful aircraft ever designed by Robinson Helicopter. It offers capacity for
eight seats in the main cabin, two seats in the cockpit, and a useful load of up to 1,800 pounds with full fuel.
The cabin has approximately 275 cubic feet of volume.
Performance:
The R88 offers a range of over 350 nautical miles and endurance exceeding 3.5 hours. It is expected to have an
internal useful load of more than 2,800 pounds and will be powered by a single Safran Arriel 2W engine producing
1,000 shaft horsepower.
Highly Configurable Interior:
The highly configurable flat-floor cabin allows various seating configurations — in forward-facing layout or
club style, efficient layouts for air ambulance and public safety missions, and more options for the future.
Fold-down rear doors in truck-bed style make cargo loading easier and enable stretcher placement for HEMS
operations.
Exterior Adaptability:
The aircraft is available with standard skids or optional taller skids for improved ground clearance and
compatibility with a firefighting water tank. Optional equipment includes a 3,000-pound cargo hook certified for
HEC, a utility basket, a wire strike protection system, and pop-out floats.
Advanced Avionics:
The R88 is equipped with a Garmin avionics suite, including large G500H TXi displays and GTN touchscreen
navigators. The G500H TXi includes a crew alerting system. The standard four-axis autopilot offers features such
as level mode, hover assist, low- and high-speed protection, and other safety functions. Standard data
recording, data link, and Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) simplify operation and maintenance.
Enhanced Safety:
The R88 includes dual hydraulics for pitch and roll control, increasing flight safety. Other standard safety
features include an engine inlet barrier filter and impact-resistant windshields certified under Part 29
transport helicopter standards. New LED exterior lighting, including pulsing landing and taxi lights, tail rotor
illumination, scene lighting, and entry lighting, further enhances safety.
Innovative Design:
The R88 introduces dual cyclic controls with removable sticks on both sides, allowing the pilot in command to
sit either on the left or right, while the second seat can be occupied by a passenger. The aircraft will be
type-certified for optional single-pilot IFR operations. A completely new interior offers comfortable,
functional seating, easy-to- maintain materials, and versatile layouts.
